The Figurative Art sessions are a great way for artists to brush up on their anatomy as a way to practice ideas they might have for the juried exhibit that is coming up called "The Curious Figure". The Curious Figure is an exhibit that invites artists present two ideas that use the figure to express an idea in way that demonstrates understanding anatomy, spatial design, and composition. This exhibit will be curated by Kat Knutsen and Raz Seri . The exhibit will open at the Co-Creative Center located in downtown New Bedford, MA. be archived with a catalog that will be made available online. Artists are invited to apply here
Submission Details:
Artistic Mediums: We invite artists to submit two pieces of art that incorporate drawing, painting, or printmaking techniques.
The Human Figure: Your artwork should prominently feature the human figure. This is your chance to explore the depths of human expression, emotion, and experience through your creative lens.
Theme: "Curious Figure": The title of the exhibition, "Curious Figure," was chosen to inspire you. We want your artwork to reflect your inner curiosity and encourage viewers to ponder the world in your unique and thought-provoking ways.
Selection Criteria: Participants must have attended at least one of the Figurative Art sessions at the Co-Creative Center, Play Arcade, or at Kat's Studio at Kilburn Mills. Artworks that demonstrate thoughtful design and convey a sense of curiosity will be highly considered for inclusion in the exhibit. We encourage you to let your imagination run free and use the human figure as a canvas for your inner reflections. Artworks must have been created in the last 5 years.
Important Dates:
Submission Deadline: Your submissions must be received by Wednesday Oct 20th 2023.
Exhibition Opening: "Curious Figure" is scheduled to open on Thursday November 9th. Mark your calendars and get ready to share your artistic journey with a wider audience.
