Refund policy

We want you to live with this work happily. If something arrives and it is not right, email kat.knutsen@gmail.com and we will sort it out. Please contact us before sending anything back. Returns shipped without notice may not be refundable.

Original paintings

14 days from delivery. The painting must be unaltered and undamaged, returned in its original packaging. You pay return shipping and insure the return for the full purchase price. Your refund is issued once the work arrives back safely, less the original shipping charge.

Handmade goods

30 days from delivery. Unworn, unwashed, with tags attached. You pay return shipping.

Commissioned work

Commissions are made to your specification and are not returnable. They can be cancelled on these terms:

  • Before scope is agreed — full refund.
  • After scope is agreed, before work begins — full refund less a 15% scheduling fee.
  • After work has begun — no refund; work in progress remains the artist’s property.

Portraiture is interpretive. Dissatisfaction with the artist’s style, brushwork, or interpretation is not grounds for refund; an agreed and documented factual error is. One round of revisions is included at the sketch stage, before painting begins.

Workshops and sessions

  • More than 7 days ahead — full refund, or transfer to a future session.
  • Within 7 days — transfer to a future session, no refund.
  • No-show — no refund or transfer.
  • If we cancel — full refund or transfer, your choice.

Consultations reschedule free with at least 24 hours’ notice; later than that, the session is forfeit.

Consulting and event services

Not returnable once delivered. Deposits for event work are non-refundable once planning begins, because they reserve capacity that is then unavailable to others.

If a piece arrives damaged

Paintings ship insured. Email us within 5 days of delivery with photographs of both the piece and its packaging, and keep all packing materials until the claim is resolved. We handle the insurance claim, so you should not be out of pocket for a shipping failure.

How refunds are issued

Refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 business days of the item arriving safely. Your bank or card issuer may take a few days more to post it.

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under Massachusetts law where goods are damaged or not as described.
